During the recent simul, Diana was the only one in the field who managed to keep Judith Polgar in a draw. This is a top result, because Judith is a big name.
For those who don’t know her. Judith Polgar, born in 1976 is a Hungarian chess grandmaster.
She is the only woman ever to reach the world top (top 10) in an era where chess was mainly a men’s sport.
A fide rating of 2735 ELO at its peak says it all. She was by far the strongest of all women, beating her female competitors several times in the world championships.
Between the first of august and the 11th of august 2019 in European chess champioenship in Bratislva.
With 22 people from the Belgian delegation we left together on the plane to this championship.
After 9 rounds I gained 4th place with an unbeaten score of 7/9 points! With a tournament performance of more than 150 points above my current ELO. Wow, how happy I am! I did not expect this with so many strong players.
Last weekend the Flemish championship took place in Ghent. This takes place every year in the buildings of the KGSRL, the largest Flemish chess club in the country.
What makes this tournament so difficult is that you have to play two games a day. This makes it enormously tiresome and requires a lot of endurance. Here I fought hard among all experienced players and achieved a final score of 3/7! Another special experience.
I have two brothers Maxim and Alexander, my dad is an electrician and my mom works as a babysitter for family help.
My family gives me every opportunity to grow and support.
My brother Maxim is in the top 10 of best youth players in his age category. In 2019, Flemish champion -10 and East Flemish champion. In 2018 East Flemish champion.
I dream of becoming the Belgian woman’s grandmaster.
An overview of my achievements
2022 Draw against GM Judith Polgar ELO – 2675 2022 Belgian female champion -16 2021 Belgian female champion -14 2021 Second lady of Belgian championship (adults), 2021 2020 Belgian female champion -14 (online edition) 2020 Flemish femal champion -14 2019 East Flemish female champion -14 2019 4 th place in the European Championship Girls -12 2019 Belgian female champion -12, 2019 Flemish female champion -12, 2018 East Flemish female champion -12 2017 East Flemish female champion -12 2017 Belgian female champion -10, 2017 Flemish female champion -10 2016 Eastern Flemish female champion -10
And with more than 20 tournament wins between boys and girls I know how to stand my ground.
My biggest dream is to become the best female chess player and the first female grandmaster of Belgium. Today, no women have been able to realize this in Belgium. I believe in the power of women and I will prove this even then!
This requires a lot of training and a lot of international tournament experience.
Unfortunately this costs a lot of money to my mom and dad. Who have to work hard to finance all this. Examples are transport costs, accommodation costs, registration fees, food, drinks and coaching.
You can give us a helping hand by contributing a little to these costs.
